Not that bad? "clever" 1337 mispelling doesn't make the words suddenly non-vulgar. No, they don't offend me, but these names are clearly over the line.

Try that again buddy. I can just see it now. Momm asks son how computer game was. Son says, it was fun! I was playing with "flaming caunt". Oh mommy is gonna love that.
As for weak, well lets look at your forum name... Wonder what your characters are called. |

Lol i am now, my charcters names are The Great Albino, Ms Diablo, and Kindergarten Cop ( my warrior looks like arnald ), only thing im real qorried about is my new charcter, who i named after watching the rick james episode of chapele show (wonder what he is called lol). I definately will rename him, just think that kimchipoisen charcters names are npt that bad. Lastly, my forum name was the name of my original D2 account 5 years ago, was 12 at the time and the name didn,t eman anything bad to me. I was lucky my parents let me even play the game

Hey sorry to double post but this game is rated teen, and that means 13 yeas plus right? Most people by the age of thirteen have seen much worse things in movies, TV or everyday life than these character names that are a little unappropriate. So in my opinion, if that mom is mad at what her kid is seeing, then that kid is too young to be playing this game (under the age of 13). Just my opinion, to each is there own Last edited by Blow_Holez; Jun 10, 2005 at 10:57 PM // 22:57.. |

if they would ---- out "damn", then i guess "caunt" is very offending to ANet. I like the creativity of the second char name, but this one is a bit over the line.

Oooh, it's a Rated Teen game, and by 13 They've SEEN or HEARD worse.
However, the misspelling of the one... flaming Caunt... wouldn't be in a PG-13 movie. It's be rated r or nc-17. Reminder: if you can't see it in a PG-13 movie, then it's in appropriate. Doesn't matter if parents today don't watch what their kids are doing until it's too late, but if it's offensive, they'll take care of it. http://www.esrb.org/esrbratings_guide.asp And http://www.filmratings.com/questions.htm#Q5 |

agreed... though remotely (remotely) clever, clearly they are A: vulgarities and B: quite unfitting with the theme of the game world and C: very unimaginative and unoriginal... look at them phonetically instead of the 1337 spellings to see how mundane the names actually are. Not sure it deserved a ban though... perhaps Anet should have a "warning e-mail" generator to send out warnings a week before bans.

Oh, that's classic
How about you go tell Mom the name of that first character and see if she bans you for a few hours too? Sheesh. |

erm...
They're probably not going to block for using real life names (even though using copywrite names is against the eula). But they prolly will block for using profanities since (who really gives a shit about pg13) many adults even don't wish to view these profanities online. I don't really care myself but the people who these names offend tend to be more fun to play with than the people who come up with these names. |

I'm not trying to go against you guys or anything, but this is kinda ridiculous. There are several features to disallow encounters with inappropriate names if they offend you. IMO most people won't care since the majority of players are of an older age. Then if you do have a problem, what makes you think you're stuck with them? You only see people in towns and in missions and there are several districts in each town (for the most part). I just think that an inapropriate name is the least of anyone's concern.

The main problem is, children that use these sort of names are the same ones who spam the chat channels with childish nonsense "wonder why". So their name is seen over and over, then you get so annoyed with that person that you use their "vulgar" name as an excuse to get them shut up, hopefully permanently.
Have never actually ratted someone out for their name, though I have been tempted... and the name had nothing to do with it, was the childish person behind the childish name. |

Lol, I just read through kimchipoisen's charcter names again and looked at his/her third characters name Im Sofa King Hot, and actually said it out loud. Thats pretty clever, but a little unapropriate nonetheless.
